I received your sundry favors 2nd March & 2nd May, & 21st August, together with all the missing occidents, and a letter from Mr. J. J. Seixas explaining the detentions of those letters and books having been occasioned by the negligence of our New York agents, which I regret as it has been the cause of my loosing many subscribers, I was reduced to 5, but since the books have arrived I have got 2 more thus now I have 7 subscribers. In my last I informed you of my having disposed of one Sett of Prayer Books, since which tho we have passed all the holidays which is the time to sell I have not been able to dispose of a single Sett, they all com=plain the books are too large and heavy. So much so that I have orders for three Setts if printed on thin paper like your Daily Services, and as they fear you will not have them bound as they wish, that is to say one of the persons, he requests you will send him out an unbound Sett if on thin paper, his object is to cut off the margins as much as possible, and then have them bound in smaller vols. according to his own taste they being for a very young lady who could not well hold ones of these books in her hands the time she should in consequence of the weight, the other two setts you will please send according to the order enclosed, all three Setts are bespoken consequently they must be

according to the order, and those you cant fulfill (if any) according to the order do not send at all as I am exposed to receive them on my hands, you would do well also to put up a few setts more for me to sell with at least the kipur books divided in two or three, and always on thin paper, as those heavy books will not sell. the west India ladies will not use them, the English editions being so much smaller or lighter. I am very much obliged to you for the notice you took of my dear wife's death. The sentiments expressed being your own I am doubly thankful. I would surmise in the price of the books you charge them 5 per cent over your price as here 5 franc pieces pay for Dollars, and if you require re=mittance in that specie you will have to loose the dif=-ference, however you do not mention any thing of that in yr letter as I may perhaps have to shew it to them.
In your kind favor of 2nd May. I perceive w/ much pleasure your promise to send my sister Mrs. Lindo a number of the Occident I have written her to that effect, and have requested her to apply to your agents in London, if she does not hear from them, with the sett of prayer Books here in ordered to be sent unbound please send (on same sort paper & same ?) a Sett of Pentateuch unbound, as the person wishes to have them, forming one complete Sett all bound alike and all printed alike. I will copy below this the order he has given me in his own words to avoid mis=takes. Hoping you have passed pleasantly the holidays & that you may see many happy returns of them. I am yr Sincere friend.

PS. In your favor of 2nd: March, you say the Books I ordered for Pto Cabello will go by the next packet, now I do not recollect having ordered any Books for Pto Cabo., or any where else, if you have sent any please let me know.—

One Ditto Pentateuch all printed on thin paper, to be unbound, the person wants to get them bound here, that he may divide them to his liking and his motive for wishing thin paper's because he wanted them for his young daughter, consequently he wants them light, if they cant be sent according to his desine do not send them.

The foregoing is duplicate of my last respects since which I have recd. yr. favors 3 Oct. & 31st and the Books correct as per your notes.
Mr. Dacosta left this morning for St. Thomas to fetch out his sister who is coming out from England to join him here,
I am afraid you will never see the money if the books Mr. Lobo of Puerto Cavello had from you ask is not the best paymaster, I hope tho' it will prove otherwise.—wishing you well, and with respect I am Dr Sir yrs. Truly
