Dear Dr:-
You will receive by this evenings mail a set of sheets of the report as far as printed, and also a couple of slips of proofs, likely the last of it. If the end is not sent to you tonight, it will be mailed in the morning. The Hebrew composition set in with the English is excessively slow. I hope you will be satisfied with the way the work is done.
I send you a copy of Claude Montefiore's Bible for Home Reading, which I wish you would review for The American Hebrew. The Chronicle praises it highly but refers to his "higher criticism" as likely to be unsatisfactory to many. His volume has been looked forward to for a long time, as it was announced to be a
Bible for very young readers, which it is not, I wish to present a fair idea of it from several points & therefore have asked Dr. Harris (for Reform) & De Sola Mendes (for conserv-ative) to also review it. Your review need not be a critical analysis of the book, unless you wish to make it so, but may treat of the trend & influence of the work in a general way, the propriety of introducing higher criticism in a work designed for the largely for those unfitted by age to understand it.
