My Dear Pastor.
You must accept my sincere & grateful acknowlegements for your very kind note, received this morning, expressing such gratifying solicitude for my health, & expressions of sympathy in my latest & deepest affliction. Your letter found me still in my "old house" now, so very desolate.
You who have experienced such a bereavement can fully understand the sad void it creates in ones heart & life. I trust I may (thro. Gods grace & mercy) be supported to fulfill his dearest wish for me, a useful & peaceful existance on earth as a fitting preparation to rejoin her in the "holy [?] that waits a life well spent." My health is good----thanks! & you will see me (if nothing prevents) occupy my seat in our "House of Prayer" on the approaching New Year. I should have announced this word to you—but neglected to do so! Which pray forgive.
Our kind Rabbi—Revd. H. Hochheimer visited my beloved one frequently, & performed the last sad services by her request--[?]ding, the prayers of each evening of "the Sheva."
Ask my old schoolmate Mrs Florance, to receive my affec't sympathy—Believe me
