My Dear Pastor.
Your extremely kind letter was received yesterday & I had not one leisure moment in which to express my heartfelt thanks for the expressions of friendly sympathy it contained. My Aunt's attack was sudden & alarming, & at first I

belived that she would not long linger on Earth. Now I see that it will be a lingering illness—until her feeble strength is gradually exhausted, by time & heat. I beg you to pray for her, that she may bear her lot with fortitude & not suffer acutely & that for me you will implore God's mercy to support me, in my anxious & arduous task.
