Dear Sir:
I beg leave to report that William Rosensohn, who could not be present at the examination on the 1st inst., but who has since applied for admission, was examined by me in the presence of Drs. Drachman and Leiberman on the Penta-teuch with Rashi commentary and grammatical rules. I found him competent to enter the Junior class, subject to the ap-proval of your committee. I also renewed the suggestion that Speaker, who taught last summer, during Dr. Drachman's ill-ness, take charge of the Preparatory Department on trial, for a short period, with a larger stipend than he has received heretofore.
