Venerable Sir:
I wish to be excused for my tardiness in thanking you for your benevolent efforts in my behalf. This sacred duty I now comply with, requesting you to kindly accept the expression of my very profound gratitude. Dr. H.P. Mendes kindly handed me $50.-- which sum enabled me to attend to my most imperative necessities. Believe me that it was very trying for me to see myself reduced to appeal to such recourse, which I did for the first time in my life, but my embarrassment was of such nature; that I was necessarilly obliged to do so.
