Dear Mr. Morais:-
Thanks for your endorsement of our position. We will receive none too much of it.
While nearly always when we receive copy for Tuesday morning we can mail proof in the evening, yet it often occurs, as this week, that I have to put all my composi-tors on to job work in the early part of the week. Not a line of the paper was in type on Wednesday morning on account of a rush in "jobbing," so I could not very well send your proof in time to correct. I did not care to send proof to you Wednesday afternoon, & put you to trouble to no ser-vice, but in such cases we ex-ercise special care in reading, and I think you will find it "clean." Your "copy" is not
so hard to read as you would think and a "war-map" or [?] of interlineations only adds to the compositor's pleasure in setting it--sometimes. It is by no means the worst copy that comes to the office, and the only fault is that it comes so seldom.
