My dear & Rev friend,
Thanks for your good letter and promise.
I beg now to enclose you your poem sent me by Dr Felsenthal and which he prayed I would first submit to you before publishing or requesting any one to translate I had already handed it to our mutual friend Dr H P. Mendes from whom this morning I have a reply enclosing Gruber's version & yours which appeared in the Heb Standard Oct 1/86. I do not quite understand whether the Standard published the Hebrew poem in Hebrew with the English translation (as given by Dr. M) and desirous of being correct I send both to you to ask
of the Hebrew (as given by Dr F) is the correct rendering & if the translation marked with green pencil is satisfactory. Also whether this translation is Dr Mendes'?
Please return Dr M's letter in sending reply & the poem & let me have all by return mail if possible.
I wish to give the Hebrew with the English translation in publishing same, in the Menorah for Sepr.
