Dear Sir
Dr. E. N. Porter, Prest of Union College, Schenectady, N. Y., wishes to obtain money for book enough to fill an alcove in the College Library, on Hebrew Literature and asks if the Jews of this city will give one or the other or better still both, as a memorial to be suitably inscribed, in order to show the succesful establishment of perfect religious equality in this University. He expects to visit this city shortly and I would be glad to have the privilege of introducing him to you that he may submit his plan and explain it.
