Revd Dr S Morais
Honored Sir:-
Not wishing to in-trude on your valuable time I shall make this writing as brief as possible & implore you to grant me your undivided attention for its perusal: I was among the first who petitioned the Baron de Hirsch for succor in Carmel and yet when relief came my name was, for reason unknown to me, omitted I am not agressive and permitted this to pass I have hoped to better my condition without having to recourse to outside assistance. Unfortunately my wife's sickness coupled with my children's recent departure to Philada baffled all my intentions & now I am left not only penniless but con-siderably in debt for Rent to Miller & other sundry bills.-
It were impertinent to suggest to you the expedient by which I might be extricated from these difficulties unless,
assured of your kind sympathy and when this is secured your kind heart will dictate to you the means. I hope that for the sake of my suffering family your heart will warm up towards them and you will not refuse to assist us in the time of greatest emergency Most respectfully and, in anticipation, most gratefully yours Jacob Weintraub - Identifier
